This extended safari to the famous Maasai Mara National Reserve allows ample time to explore one of Africa’s greatest wildlife destinations. The reserve is known for its wide open savannahs, abundant wildlife, and the annual wildebeest migration from the Serengeti National Park. Visitors have excellent chances of spotting the Big Five along with many other species.
Depart from Nairobi in the morning and travel through the scenic Great Rift Valley escarpment with a brief stop for panoramic views. Continue via Narok town to arrive in Masai Mara in time for lunch at your lodge or tented camp. In the afternoon, enjoy your first game drive across the savannah plains in search of lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and antelopes.
After an early breakfast, head out for a full day exploring different areas of the reserve. The Mara is home to large predator populations including lions, cheetahs, and leopards. During the migration season, thousands of wildebeest and zebras cross the Mara River. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the reserve before continuing with afternoon wildlife viewing.
