This classic Kenyan safari combines two of the country’s most iconic wildlife destinations. The journey begins at Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its rhino sanctuary and rich birdlife around the alkaline lake. The safari then continues to the world-renowned Maasai Mara National Reserve, known for its vast savannah plains, exceptional predator sightings, and the spectacular wildebeest migration from the Serengeti National Park. This itinerary offers excellent chances to see the Big Five along with many other wildlife species.
Depart from Nairobi in the morning and drive through the scenic Great Rift Valley escarpment with a stop at a viewpoint for photographs. Continue to Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving in time for lunch at your lodge or camp. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive around the lake where you may see large flocks of flamingos, white and black rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, buffalo, and possibly lions or leopards.
After breakfast, enjoy a short morning game drive before departing for the Masai Mara. The drive passes through picturesque countryside and Maasai pastoral lands. Arrive at your safari lodge or tented camp in time for lunch. Later in the afternoon, head out for a game drive across the open plains in search of elephants, lions, cheetahs, and large herds of zebras and wildebeest.

Visit the Mara River area where crocodiles and hippos inhabit the waters, and where the famous wildebeest migration crossings occur during the migration season.
